Hello! My name is Amber Mayo, and I am the founder and owner of Salon AM located in Gainesville, Virginia.
My hair passion started when I was 14 years old, shampooing clients at my local salon for pocket money. What started as a casual job soon blossomed into a life-long hair obsession as I fell in love with the client transformations that were taking place in front of my eyes. Though I went on to have a successful career in the Government Consulting sector for 10 years, my desire to bring beauty into the world never ceased, and before long, I left my cube life behind to pursue my passion.
I kickstarted my career by assisting a master stylist in Washington, DC. This experience gave me priceless insights into the art of color, precision cuts, styling, and above all, the importance of diligent maintenance.
I have expanded my skill through the years by attending numerous classes with noteworthy celebrity stylists and Redken Artists. Additionally, I am certified in the Kacey Welch Method of hair extensions. I specifically sought out this method as it aligns with my mantra of "healthy hair is the priority." I pride myself on enhancing what my clients want with a balance of hair nutrition, allowing for beautiful collaborations that keep my clients coming back for more.
